An Afternoon In Gibsonville, N.C.

Nowadays, our weekends are filled with exploring & catching up on whatever we couldn’t do through the week. Recently, we decided to split one of those days in half. One part we spent having fun & the other on yard work. That honestly had fun aspects, too.

Gibsonville was our chosen destination. Its short distance away made it the perfect choice. As usual, I did research beforehand & came up with a short itinerary. In all honesty, food was the main focus. We asked “Grandma” to join us & declared it girls time.

Arriving around 11:30am, parking spaces downtown were plentiful. That was surprising because although a small town, the area was quite busy. Cars were consistently up & down the streets. People either casually strolled or hurried in & out of shops. While passing restaurant windows, we saw others dining & enjoying the company of their companions.

A plethora of shops were open. Our first stop was at a new business, A Quiet Life Handmades. It was filled with jewelry & knitted pieces created by local artists.

Next on the list was lunch. I knew it was time because my daughters were getting sluggish & I could sense the hangry setting in. Referring to my list, we made our way down to Ines (Argentinian) Bakery. The online menu & reviews made this place a must. Our eyes were on things both savory & sweet.

OMG the empanadas… Satisfied is an understatement! A box of 12 plus three drinks was around $26. I loved that we were able to get a mix of what was on the menu. The empanadas we purchased were 1) ham & cheese, 2) chicken & spinach, 3) spicy chicken & cheese, 4) turkey & cheese, 5) spicy beef, 6) spicy beef & cheese, 7) guava, 8) apple, & to our surprise… one more for free. We chose the mushroom.

So much food joy & our bellies were almost filled to capacity. A few more shops, town blocks, & random photos later, we were ready for dessert. Okay… another dessert. I’ll be sharing about that in an upcoming post & will link it here when it goes live.

After resting for a while we checked out the welcome center. Such a cool place because it was located inside of an old caboose. Reading about some of Gibsonville’s history was insightful & gave us a brief look into the past.

We plan to visit Gibsonville again soon. If for nothing more than indulging in empanadas! My youngest also wants to check out a park or some other outdoor space. I’m sure we’ll make another fun adventure out of it.

The area also has a museum, historic walking tour, free concerts, & other events you can find on their site (https://www.gibsonville.net/visitors). Have you visited Gibsonville, NC? If so, where did you go? What did you do?
