Dear BFF,

As I type this, I'm facing a mother lode of things. I also have a close older family member in the hospital facing the end of his life. Absolutely surreal. So many people have passed away in such a short period of time & it puts all of life into perspective.

All of it.

There's so much good happening, but also other aspects that I don't share. In some ways, I feel overwhelmed. In others, balanced & on track.

That's the duality of living.

I'll say this until I get it right… I have to do better about spending time with loved ones. Life gets ridiculously busy, BUT, that's really not a good reason is it? It's just an excuse. We're ALL busy. We're ALL doing our best to survive, stay afloat, & remain positive. However, the people we claim to love, we MAKE time for. Period.

That's the lesson.

I'm calling myself out on my own stuff & that's something I don't have a problem doing. You can't change what you won't acknowledge. I'm teaching my daughters this very principle. And instead of ignoring or denying it, we're working on it.

Change is action!

Moving forward, we're clinging tightly to the people who cling to us. We're making better efforts to see people who want to see us. We're standing by those who stand by us.

We won't ask nor beg anyone to make time (not that we've ever begged). People who want to be in our lives… are. And they're the ones who matter most. As a matter of principle (& gratitude), you don't turn your back on… nor put on the backburner… people who've been there for you without fail. I'm sure you're supposed to do just the opposite.

I hope this awakens something within you or brings light to something you've put on hold as far as making improvements. We're all on a journey & life isn't pausing for us to ponder getting our ish together. Do right by people now, or suffer the consequences of regret later.

If we're smart, we'll use our time- the present moment- wisely. Here's to growth instead of ''choosing'' to remain the same.
