Rock Your Confidence: Naila Waddell

MEET NAILA

My name is Naila Waddell. I am 36 years old and I currently reside in North Carolina.

HER STORY

I’ve had two defining moments in my life. The first was becoming a mother and the second was becoming a business owner. Becoming a mother was something I would never say that I was prepared for or could ever be prepared for. If you’re not a mother but becoming one, let me just tell ya, put down the books and just flow through life. You’ll be happy that you did!

I opened a business last year with my husband. I quit my job and never looked back. Opening a business changed my way of thinking, my perception of time, my motivation, and my life, literally.

I’ve never been able to say that I was a thinker in the past, not like this. I have to think of not one “it could be”, but more like 100 “it could be” reasons, ways, or how to’s. There are definitely more than a few ways to get things done and in business a box isn’t an option. You have to be open and creative at all times.

My time is very valuable to me. Why you say? Because I don’t have any. It’s a 24-hour operation. Literally, I don’t have any time for anything but business. In the last year I have turned my stove on twice and that was just to warm something up.

THE LESSON

I lacked confidence prior to opening this business. I doubted myself in everything that I did. I was always so content with not being as successful as I wanted to be in life, but that left me unfulfilled. Now I know that it is possible to start from zero and build.

Flowers, houses, streets, relationships, even babies are all started from ground zero. I knew nothing about business. I surely didn’t know anything about starting a brand new one. Going through the process and learning everything that had to be done to even get the power turned on, let me know that I, too, could conquer anything; All that I had to do was do it. I feel like I can take over the world!!

BE INSPIRED

I was once a single mother. I know the struggle of working a full-time job and being a part-time student while struggling with missing your kid(s), not having a social life (while your friends are out enjoying life), counting change, and falling asleep on Disney movies while trying to feel like you're being a good mother. I will never forget those days.

Those days made me who I am today. Those days gave me unthinkable strength to be able to be an entrepreneur, a mother, and a wife. Those dark skies have a ray of sunshine behind them that are just waiting for you to let the sun shine through. If I can do it, you can do it!

Don’t ever give up on yourself. If you just believe in yourself, you can make anything happen, no matter what or how long it takes. You’re worth so much more than you realize. Love yourself. You deserve it. These are the things that I have realized and I’ve never felt more fulfilled.
