5 Halloween Activities For Couples (That Includes Parents)
October has shown up and I couldn't be more excited! If you don't know already, Halloween is my favorite holiday. I could go into the cuteness of my daughters choosing costumes (watch them here), going trick or treating, etc, but this ain't about the kiddos! It's time for adults, especially parents, to have some fun.
In this family, the Halloween season is epic! As a couple and as parents, Johnny and I do our best to get out and live it up. I'm gonna let you in on some of the things we do to make sure it's not all about the kids.
Haunted Houses
No other activity gives us Halloween joy like haunted houses. When October hits, we start gearing up. There are so many haunted houses to choose from! A simple Google search will show you what's closest to you. We try to visit a one new one every year but if not, we stick to our trusty faves. They always have new themes and horrific surprises around every corner!
Haunted Trails
Never in reality do I want to be chased by a masked man with a chainsaw but on a haunted trail, it's the ultimate adrenaline rush! When the trail is through the woods or within a foggy field, I'm terrified in the best way. I'm usually the one who screams first. It takes a lot to get a yell out of Johnny (most men) but the right set up will get the job done. One of our favorite haunted trails is at Kersey Valley Spookywoods in Guilford County, NC. They have just the right mix of spooky to make us scream at least once.
Buy Costumes & Go Out
If you're a parent and your family celebrates Halloween, I'm sure you buy (or make) costumes for your kids. You may even have a family theme each year. Love it! However, make sure you have costumes that are fun for you as a couple.
If you're lucky enough to have a babysitter, get dressed up and hit the town! Halloween is one time of year where you're expected to be a tad weird and unruly. Take advantage! Find a mature party spot or hangout where you can let loose. I promise it'll be one of the best times you've ever had!
Graveyard Walking Tour
We haven't done this one yet, but it's on the list. Ask around and do your research to see if your town/county offers them. If not, make a road trip to a nearby area.
Some places have a history of hauntings and are full of horror stories just waiting to be told. I'm currently doing research to find a tour for us. I'll keep you posted! Btw... if you're brave enough, you can always go to a cemetery on your own. Just be safe!
Zombie Hunt
This will be a new one for us also. I've found nearby paintball zombie hunts and corn fields filled with infected creatures. Johnny and I live for this kind of stuff! I'm telling you, there is so much fun to have during the Halloween season if you love it like we do.
Couples... parents...don't miss out this year! Even if you can only do one of the activities above, go for it! Try something new or revisit a Halloween activity you haven't done in a long time. You deserve some spooky excitement!
Halloween is suppose to be fun. That fun doesn't stop with the kids. It means YOU, TOO! Let me know what you do or any other ideas you may have. Also, don't be stingy with the haunted house locations. Let us know where to go (especially if you're in NC)!
